Lesbianism is for many dominant male-chauvinistic pigs a lot more attractive than repulsive, whereas for the same people gay marriage is a monstrous, satanical diabolical unethical unnatural and even anti-nature union; They may “stone” or “lapidate” the gay couple whereas they will just ostracize the lesbian couple. In other words, Stephen King chose his two main characters, Scott and his ex-doctor Bob, to be men and to fall into a hetero-oriented attraction towards a couple of two women. True enough he adds the wife of the ex-doctor who shifts from absolute Christian Biblical hostility to open-minded converted approval. Un Stephen King tout en douceur, aussi léger que le poids que perd Scott.Scott perd du poids donc, et pourtant, physiquement il ne change pas.Il appréhende la vie différemment et on a la sensation que ses soucis s'allègent en même temps que lui (l'insoutenable légèreté de l'être ??).J'aime les remises en question de l'auteur face à la société encore trop sévère envers l'homosexualité, j'aime les valeurs qu'il fait passer.Une jolie nouvelle, en somme, très délicate et presque poétique, qui se lit extrêmement (trop?) vite.

J'ai très vite terminé ce roman qui est très court, surtout pour un Stephen King ! L'histoire aussi est différente...Simple et sans grands effets, mais les personnages sont toujours aussi bien travaillés et attachants. Une jolie histoire plus qu'une histoire marquante. Mais quand on est fan...

Acheté un peu pour avoir tous les romans du King....mais je ne regrette pas du tout car très bonne histoire, vit lue, moins de 200 pages....contrairement au précédent avec les femmes qui s'endorment que je n'ai pas encore fini....faudra que j'y retourne...

Je recommande cette nouvelle très prenante. Ce n'est pas du tout dans le style que l'on connaît de Stephen King mais c'est très intéressant.

Le travail autour des personnages est ciselé, le récit amène à la réflexion mais pour autant une intrigue trop légère à mon goût. J’attendais plus et ai été déçue.

C'est plus une nouvelle qu un livre... 150 pages... Déçu de n'avoir pas retrouvé l'ambiance habituelle des livres du maître...
